Despite being such a ski haven, the summer season is actually the busiest time of the year in Bend. There is plenty to do...including getting WET! With the high desert heat of Central Oregon, as Martha Stewart would say, it's a good thing! However, not everyone thinks that getting soaked is fun. Sometimes, finding the quiet beauty of nature is more suitable. |
One of our favorite places to stay is the Inn of the 7th Mountain, which, as you can see below, hosts some great whitewater rafting trips. Nothing quite compares to the anticipation (and fear) of seeing the eddy you're about to go crashing through. And by the way, that river water we're going to be hit with is cold up here in the mountains! |
Why is it that our Inn of the 7th Mountain rafting guide is the only one gritting his teeth as we head into the rapids? This isn't a canoe trip, folks! |
It was much scarier and quite a bit colder than it looks. But, was it ever FUN! (By the way, everybody managed to stay in the raft). |
Everyone lived to tell about the trip through the rapids. The guy in back is sure excited. I'm just trying to figure out how cold the trip back is going to be, seeing as how I'm soaked to the bone...as is Tracie, who is at the front of the raft with me. |
